How you can become active for Dolpo and our association
The DolpoCare association was founded in the wake of the devastating earthquakes in Nepal in 2015 and the reporting in 2017 on the very slow pace of reconstruction. As numerous trips to Nepal by the later DolpoCare Board of Directors revealed, aid measures from the Nepalese government or non-governmental organizations are only partially reaching Dolpo in north-western Nepal, if at all. Healthcare in Dolpo in particular is inadequate and almost all the locals we met on our travels had to witness how family members or friends received no or insufficient medical help when they urgently needed it. We therefore decided to become active with Dolpo in an area that is ignored by most aid organizations.
As we are a small, private and independent organization, our activities and successes depend largely on the support of private individuals, foundations and other non-profit associations. Here you can find out how you can contribute to improving healthcare in an often forgotten region of Nepal.
Become a patron
DolpoCare is a non-profit association that is run entirely by volunteers and can only achieve so much thanks to generous donations. All the money we raise for our projects in Nepal goes entirely towards the association's defined goal, namely improving healthcare in Dolpo. As a benefactor, you enable young people from Dolpo to complete a medical training course and to practise in Dolpo after successful completion.
Membership
Our activities for DolpoCare are based on voluntary work. We are always happy to welcome new members who can help us to expand our donor base in Switzerland, visit Nepal or support us in our administrative activities. Membership of DolpoCare costs CHF 50 per calendar year.
